I have this 150-watt Sound City/Roccaforte amp that I think would probably sound damn cool with Celestion Blues but I don't want to buy 9-billion of them in order to handle the power. What are some alternatives? I'm probably looking at at a 4x12 semi-open back style cab.

+++1 for Fane AXA12. I've got two of them. They can take the punishment.

The whole point of the Vintage 30 was to make a higher wattage speaker that mimic'd the sound of a Blue.

I find the Blues , including the Webers, to have warmer, and very "classic' mids than the RI G12H30's. Not really the same. Vintage G12H's are something else again, and vary in tone depending on DOM.

Those Fane AlNiCos will take 100w each, I think.

Yes, the Fane AXA12s are 100W. Exceptional speakers.

I had a Celestion Blue (excellent), 50W Weber Alnico Blue Dog, and a Red Fang. I'd love to get another Celestion Blue, which I liked more than the Blue Dog and Red Fang, both of which were nice, but not as good as the Fane, IMHO, for my setup and tastes.

Not saying they nailed it, just that that's what their intention was.

I second the Fanes. Very chimey, sweet distortion and crushingly loud. A 412 of those will easily be twice as loud as a greenback cab.
