What is a suitable high school graduation gift for a bandmate's kid, who you have seen some over the years but never really been around for any amount of time? If money, how much? Thanks!

Not sure I would feel obligated to get a gift.

I'm pretty sure a gift is appropriate because of (1) the super fancy graduation party invitation card that I got, and (2) being in a band with him for eleven years. Isn't it still meant that when you get a graduation invitation you bring a gift? Or is that out of fashion these days?

Does he play? Maybe a 3 pack or strings or a beginner setup set? small screwdrivers, allen keys etc.

If not, maybe a thoughtful book on life?

Bandmates kid and you and your bandmate are friends I assume? I would give him $50 in a card.

You normally only get invitations from peoe you know personally, so, a gift is nice but not expected.

She would love that, and the party is at their church, so that's a double bonus! Thanks! :beer

They all want cash these days. Get a crisp $50 bill from the bank, put it in a nice card and write a nice note inside. She'll love it.

Nothing says, "Happy Graduation" like a card with cash in it.

You know that's what she wants.
