I'm in this funky jazzy bluesy place and it seems like jam guys live there too.

Yes I know Phish already.

Who do you love and why?

moe. is very good.

Umphrey's McGee elevates the jam band thing by using their own on-stage 'sign language to lead the music in different directions.

One of my favorites is New Madrid. They're a little more song-focused than most others, but the songs are strong and they can rip when it's called for.

Tauk. They seem to be in the jam band circuit, but I don't really consider them to be similar to the jam bands that most people are quick to rattle off.

I saw Umphrey's McGee for the fist time a month or so ago - they totally blew me away. I had seen a few videos online, but until I saw them live it didn't totally click. Their new album Similar Skin is fantastic.

Tedeschi Trucks band does it all - great, tight songs, long jams, etc.

Great American Taxi is a great band in the vein of Grateful Dead - more acoustic, bluegrass influence than some others, but they do electric stuff as well.

moe. is always great live and studio albums IMO
Widespread Panic is a favorite (Jimmy Herring on guitar these days)
Yonder Mountain String Band is cool with their own Bluegrass/Jam sound
String Cheese Incident has been around a while and is solid.

String Cheese Incident has become one of my new faves. I also like Moe. I respect Phish, Umphries McGee, and Leftover Salmon, too, but they aren't my faves.

Of course, my #1 all-time fave remains you know who. ;)
