I definitely DON'T need another amp but it's hard to pass up the classics for reasonable bucks.

1977 50 watter and cab. Original iron and speakers. Stripped to the wood but that saves me a bundle.

Nice, I actually think it looks cool like that, and it saved you some money as well! Hiwatts are such underrated monsters.

That actually looks really good. I'd love to find something like that for my studio. May I ask how much you paid??

I used to have a '74 Marshall stripped like that. It too was cheap but sounded and looked great. I like the wood look!

How much did you get it for? If you don't mind me asking.

Way to go! I'm a DR504 owner as well and have to say they are killer amps... perhaps the best I own.

Methinks I got a great deal - $1,400 for the package.

I think it looks cool, too. I vote for not re-tolexing it! I stripped the tolex off my Fender amp and sanded and varnished the wood. The finger-jointed pine is much prettier than the old scuffed black tolex was. Disclaimer: it pretty much stays at home so I don't have to worry about bruising the pine.

But Hiwatts underrated? Not here on TGP.

The head is an early 1976. the cab is older than that.

    Very nice score!
