If the loop is the same design as my 2203X then its a great, quiet loop with adjustments for pedals vs racks.

When i visted Marshall factory in late July i saw the Astoria models and mentioned my concerns that no one seems to stock much of their products. Especially the big chain retail stores.

That's obviously because they weren't/aren't selling decent volumes.

I tried the Custom at 4Sound in Bergen 4 weeks ago. It was cool. Somebody stocked it.

I always appreciate when someone takes the time to share their experiences and opinions on gear. This has helped me to spend more money than I’ve earned over the last 15yrs ;)

I also agree with your point about bringing negativity to a thread without contribution.

That said....I think, and this is only my opinion based on how I felt when reading your review, that sometimes reviews sound more like sales pitches. As I was reading yours I was wondering what your angle was. Did you work for Marshall? A music store? We’re you just practicing your review writing skills because you were thinking of starting a blog? You came across as though you were trying to sell the amp and people don’t like being sold so you tend to get those rude comments. Personally, I had what would have been considered a rude comment in my brain but decided not to share it because I really don’t if you had a pony in the race or were just enthusiastic. Also, adding “worlds best review” opened you up for comments you wouldn’t want to read.

Thank you for taking the time to start this. It’s an amp that I was aware of but paid no mind. Now it’s on the radar.

Some interesting YouTube demos I found:

The Classic in a jazz context. This guy has an amazing right hand, and an impressive player all ‘round.

The Custom as a rock machine.

It seems to be a great match for a Strat, to my ears.

Although not recorded well, and they’re using pedals, you can hear how responsive they are.

Well its true- guitar is dead. This guy's ****ing awesome and the audience gives the obligatory clap, like they were interrupted from their cell phones. Just sad.

Wow! Color me late to the party. Too bad these are discontinued. REALLY like what I hear from the higher gained Custom models. Might have to see if I can find one. Who knew?

Hi, I’m just wondering what the quality issue was, and if it was a big deal to get fixed? Has anyone else had issues that needed fixing with these amps? Thanks.

The Custom kept blowing power tubes. The second authorized Marshall repair shop finally fixed the issue. They would not elaborate on the exact root cause.

The amp has been working fine since (about a year later) with no issues. It is my current favorite amp and is most likely a keeper.

Not sure which Astoria I liked better, the Custom or the Dual? The Custom definitely has a lot more gain on tap that I don't really use. The Dual had just enough gain to do some Zeppelin.

Both amps sound much better with hours on them.

I just bought this Astoria Dual for 1399 Euros brandnew which I consider a steal! It`s a limited design store edition in black and white. I also got the matching cab for 349 Euros...for that price, I couldn`t resist.
