For all you small builder fans, a bunch of luthiers who used to go to the Montreal Guitar Show (which is now defunct) decided to get together and create a similar show in Europe. The first one will be in Berlin this November:

I went to the last few Montreal shows and found it a great place to meet the builders and play the instruments. They had booths set up where you could go in and play in relative seclusion, and for electric guitars they had a range of decent to way-better-than-decent amps in the different booths.

I had planned to go with Matt Artinger, who was asked to go and have a display booth, but unfortunately neither of us can make it this year. We're both committed to going to the 2015 show, though.

omg... What a cast... I'd love to go.

I need to begin lobbying for getting to one of these.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

I'm SO much looking forward to this show. We've never had anything like this in Europe before. This is the right concept for a show geared towards hand made guitars - you can try all the guitars without the usual 90 decibel background noise you would have at NAMM or Frankfurt Musikmesse... And all the luthiers will be there in person. It really is a treat for both the visitors and us, the luthiers. :)

I noticed Chris Larsen is in the lineup. I know he built some military inspired creations a couple years ago, but does anyone know if he's actively building again? Or does he have something up his sleeve?

I'll be there with 4-6 guitars in tow. Super excited about it!

(though I hope they move it to the summer for 2015!)

Can't wait. Hopefully it's not too freezing out there at the time.

Yeah, Berlin in November doesn't sound like a great time to me.

OTOH, I bet it's a lot less expensive to take over a big hotel then. And besides, for the show, you're gonna be inside all day anyway. ;)
