Honey Bee with a little more gain?

Does it exist an overdrive with the same small-supro-tweedy-tone and compression but with a little more gain, and why not... a little cheaper :)
I play mostly single coils guitars and my HBOD was always with gain maxed...

Don't tell me Les Lius because I had it and it's too bright and not enough versatile for me, and please avoid answers like "the HBOD is unique... impossible to replicate etc etc..." ... we all already know this ;)

The Sweet Honey OD may be the closest I have heard. I do not know otherwise.

I would say the Honeydrive too. IMO more gain, and with the focus knob turned CCW, it approximates HB territory (I've had the HB and HB Deluxe as well). Otherwise, and perhaps more rightly so if it is HB tone exact you are after, get a transarent booster and use with the HB.

Yes, the Sweet Honey Overdrive is probably the one. I have both, and the SHOD also does that great touch sensitivity with a bit more gain.

The Honey Bee has more individual personality, going for that old Supro tone, but I wouldn't describe the SHOD as generic-it's got a, well, SWEET quality of its own.

Now, it ain't cheap, but these pedals are well worth the price!

I use my Timmy -> HBOD
Timmy as clean booster gain all the way down, vol up, bass a bit back, treble open, as i found that the HBOD cuts the treble.

Everyone who said 'boost it with something else' wins the big prize ...:dude

Yes the best way to increase distortion is to increase the input - this drives whatever is creating the distortion to create more distortion ( as with any pedal) ....

if you want the sound of the HB just louder then put a boost AFTER it.

a good clean boost is a wonderful thing.

not sure if its more gain but the greer ghetto stomp is in the same territory as far as OD and a very sweet little box in its own right... and a hell of a lot cheaper, but it may not be more gainy (of course its a word....)

I would try a ghetto stomp if you can. I don't have a HBOD right now to compare but as best I can recall the HBOD (I've had, um, 3 of 'em) I would say the ghetto has more gain. It has some similar sounds, and is definitely cheaper. Works as an HBOD substitute for me, very much in the same tonal category to my ears but with more low end boost at some/most settings.
