the way both pedals turn to fuzz when the gain's pushed makes me think that they have more in common than not. What do the experts say? Is there an LM308 in the Hot Cake?

These are my favorite two pedals, but the Rat and Hot Cake sound very different from each other. The Hot Cake can come close to certain Fuzz Face tones as well as my Lovetone amp50, but the Rat is very different.

the main thing is that the Rat uses a LM308 chip and clipping diodes. The Hotcake gets most or all of its overdrive from only the chip. Running out to a family get together now, but I'll post back some more info soon...
