I play mine through a Bad Cat 2x12. In a 1x12 I have tried several different, usually find a Vintage 30 is the best match. I would recommend the Bad Cat cabinets or something else that is open back.

I like buying used just so you don't take that initial hit on retail. The Badcat stuff is built rock-solid so I wouldn't worry about issues with a used one.

You could always snoop around for a used combo.

Speaker-wise I think the hellatone from avatr is similar to the modified vin30 that comes with the badcat cabs. if you go head and cab get an actual badcat cab that matches the head at least dimension-wise.

I've heard good things about the badcat service dept. and I've spoken with james several times on the phone, I wouldn't worry about service with a used amp.

Bad Cats are quite versatile and the cabinet and speakers can make
    a tremendous difference.

I'd go fo the head allowing yourself a variety of cabinets and speakers.

I have a Hot Cat 30R and matching 2x12 cab that I may be willing to sell if you want to work out something.

It may have to wait a while, though, because I am currently out of the country.

Although, I could have my brother or sister head over to my house and ship it if we DO work something out.

Definitely buy used. You can get a great deal on a matching head and cab.

I will also have a matching 30R head and new 2x12 cab set!

How about those Pure 64 1x12 cabinets? I have been reading that they are the shiite, and with a good price on a used head, I could afford one.

Ah shiiite outbid at the last minute....well, not that it wasn't preventable, but wasn't willing to go higher.

Guess I'm going amp shopping this afternoon again haha.....not like that isn't fun though, I'm almost glad I lost!

I just sold my Hot Cat 30R 1x12 and its one of the nicest amps I've owned. Just wanted to try something else.

You should really dig it when you get it, they are killer amps!

How does the hot cat sound with a 2x12 with greenbacks?

I'm a combo guy so I lean that way when I make suggestions. For me, they just seem to read rooms better, easier to setup and I find that I personally don't need much more than a 1x12 (Cube 60) or 2x12 (Chieftain) to play out.

I can't comment on the Hot Cat through a 2x12 w/GBs - but I do play my Hot Cat 30R head through a Marshall 1960BX cab w/Greebacks quite regularly and it's fantastic! Hot Cat's respond very well to Greenbacks.
