I just picked up a COT 50. I'm wondering how most of you who have one, or had one; use it? In front of distortion or after?

    Thanks RC

I use my COT50 gold by its self or to push my eternity or blue boy deluxe.

I use it as close to the guitar as possible, after the comp-filters...
First "od" of the chain and almost an always on pedal for me.

    Im not.

It sucks with Humbuckers. Is mediocre with Single Coils.

IMHO the eternity HW lives up to the Hype. The rest ... well....

I beg to differ. My COT50 rocks with buckers. It's my ZZ in a box.

I run the Bias at 1.00 and work the guitar volume from crunchy to near fuzzy.

I have a COT Lil China Blue & a Cot Vintage Blue. The vintage blue has a volume knob but the sweet spot is about the same place where Sean boosts it on the regular version, so essentially the same. I have them on two separate small to medium size boards. With my Swart AST the COT is on all the time, controlling the crunch from the guitar. The AST loves to be muscled with a pedal and the COT gives it exactly what it needs. I've used it with an VOX AC15 and it does the same great thing. Ditto with my Mercury.

I think it sounds great and is one of Sean's most enduring builds. I only use it with single coils and it excels at adding sparkle to a Tele's darker neck pickup, so I'm guessing that it would play nice with humbuckers. I typically dial it in around 9 - 1 o'clock but it adds booty, chime, grind & sounds great at any volume.

I didn't go into the pedal looking for Billy or Jimi so my expectations were not set at any tonal benchmark. I just wanted to see if it would work for me. I leave it on all the time because it sounds so damn good!

Exactly my opinion. I think it does some indie stuff exceptionally well with single coils.

It's too bright with my esquire, but just right with my tele. Depends on my amp settings a bit. I've had no luck recording solo tracks with it, but great for live work.

    cheers
