I can find plenty media players that will play FLAC files and interact with Itunes, but only for Mac users.:bonk

Anyone know a programme that will play FLAC files + interact with Itunes whilst running Windows XP?

I use Jet Audio, but that is on Win7. For XP, you may have to use a Winamp plugin. Wait, no that's for Shorten files. I think there's a tool called, flac frontend that you can still download at etree.org.

What version of iTunes are you using? ITunes should be able to play flac files natively

I was using the latest but one. I've just updated to 10.5.3 which is the latest, and it won't play Flacs.

Edited. 03:00 here in the UK, so time for zzzs.
Hopefully I'll wake to an answer. Night all.

Yeah you need to convert them with some conversion software as itunes WILL NOT recognise and import FLAC files at present.
I converted all mine to MP3, which kind of defeats the object of having FLAC files in the first place, but at least it means I have all my music in itunes match now.. which incidentally free's up a lot of space on your ipad/iphone

Yep, you have to convert them. I use dbPoweramp converter.

And MediaMonkey is still an answer. You have to convert them. MM will do it on the fly so you don't have two instances of each song (mp3 and flac).

Thanks for the tip, but does MM convert them to mp3?, because I want quality of flac, not mp3

You choose the quality of the auto-conversion. But you can't put FLAC files on an iPod for native playback.

Is this fact using Windows? I only ask, as you can with a Mac.

    Pure Music
    Fidelia
    Amarra

I read in another thread that all the above will interact with Itunes and allow you to play flacs through Itunes, but for Mac only. I'm looking for the Windows equivalent.

I think what might be confusing you is that, even if Itunes could play FLAC files with a plug-in, it does not mean they will play on an iPod.

Convert them to Apple Lossless format. Same quality as flac.
