I recently received a Finale file, saved, supposedly, in the Finale export mode, that generates an .xml file. Will anything open it as a readable text file with the score intact?
    Thanks.

You probably don't have the required fonts.

Ask them to send you a pdf.

Another alternative is download Finale's free Notepad software and see if that opens it.

If that doesn't work send it to me and I'll try to convert it into a format you can read.

I d/l'd a demo version of Finale to read it and THAT doesn't work either!
I guess I'll have to have the originator send me an actual Finale file and open that with the demo or reader.

Isn't a xml file just markup? Try opening it in Notepad...

Go to the Finale website and download finale notepad. it's free and you can open and print finale files.
