I just custom ordered neck and tele body to try my first hand at building a guitar. I ordered the following on the necks

    9.5 radius
    1.650 nut width
    D shape
    medium frets

I am fairly new at the specs of a neck, so I was a little unsure. Any advice or tips will be appreicated.

Sure. Why not? What kind of neck are you used to?

I am used to my Heritage 150 (like Les Paul). but also like the size and feel of my G&L asat, which has a beefier neck than norm.

Are you kidding?!! Those are horrible specs! Who in their right mind would get those? Everyone knows you have to play a C-Neck, 10" radius, 6105 frets.

Just kidding. Hey, if you found what you like best, that's awesome.

    D?

That's a no no with me I'm afraid.

I also prefer the 1 5/8th fender vibe, if you're doing an F style guitar.

    I don't think he'll notice that extra 25/1,000ths of a inch.

Is there that much difference between the feel of a C and D shaped neck?

Looks like this is still there after all this time! This might help a little:

Personally, I prefer C, or soft Vs.

I've not played a "D" neck, but they look cool! My Nash has a U neck and I've got plenty with a C neck... what is a good example of a D neck guitar?

    There can be.
It just depends. A Jackson sloloist is a D but so is a '59 Les Paul. Do you have the thickness?

I'd also want to know the neck thickness range, ie, .850 - .900, etc.
