Probably should add 1.650" to your poll as that's pretty common these days, especially with Fenders "modern vintage" feel.
1 5/8" is 1.625" and for me that's the best. I love the narrow, vintage feel. You wouldn't think there's much difference between .025" felt, but it's really noticeable. Love the old feel, just have to watch that the E strings don't fall off!
1.650". I've only gone this way from 1 5/8" within the year, and though the difference is very small, it is noticeable. Even though I've got small hands, I prefer that little extra edge on the board. Vintage spacing is a little gangly feeling for me.
Yep.
The requirement of precise fingering to avoid touching the adjacent strings while chording in the lower positions should have made 1 5/8 obsolete, for all but the smallest of fingers, years ago.
Why scrunch the fingers together at the first fret?
1 3/4 " only, just can't play narrower necks. All my guitars must have this nut width. So I play custom electrics only, and Martin OM's, for this very reason.
Sure wish I could find a really nice 335 with that wide a neck....
