I want to mic my AC15c1 for my PA's and have a Shure S57 to use for that. What is the best solution for placing the mic at the amp? What do you guys use?

I think you'll find that a lot of people use the SM57, just like you. Where to place the mic in relation to the amp's speaker is a matter of preference, though it will most likely be more effective when playing with a full band at stage volume if the 57 placed right up next to the amp's grill cloth. A lot of people prefer something other than the traditional center-of-cone placement, which can sound harsh. I like to place the mic about midway between the center and the edge, sometimes a bit off axis, too, depending on the guitar and amp.

    Experiment, and have fun.

I usually back my sm57 off the grill an inch or maybe an inch and a half. around an inch from the center of the cone to the side, maybe more depending on the amp. Your best bet is to just experiment for yourself and decide what's best for you.
