Sure its guitar related but I'm not interested in that, just want to know based on your country's cost of living and wages, how hard is it to buy an R8 or any guitar that is similar in value, in your own country?

in mine the R8 goes for about 16k (my currency) , its hard but not that hard, anyone with 4k income, without a hefty car loan and a housing loan can afford such a toy.

It would be pretty hard for me to buy one, and I do ok.

I've never seen one, but then again, I've never really looked on purpose.

Maybe after I get a pay raise once my kid starts going to public school and not daycare...

I thought you meant the Audi R8. $16000 would about be the sales tax.

In Australia an R8 or R9 is really out of reach these days (at least for me). I'd love an R9 but that's nothing but a dream at this point unfortunately.

I'm also in Australia and I got a R8 last year, I needed to sell three of my other guitars to get it but I wasn't using them so it was ok, here in oz they are usually around $3000 aus. dollars used on places like e bay.

So what does a new True Historic LP cost in Australia? Converting that back to $US has got to be mind blowing...

    $2520 (2013)
$2520 (no year in the ad)

Looking online I can't actually find a store with a True Historic listed, so who knows exactly? Mega $$$ for sure.

Looks to be around €7000 for me, I could get 2 or 3 guitars I'd much rather have for that money

Just doing a quick Google gives me prices of £3.5k on average. I'm not really sure how affordable that is to the general population but for the area that I live it's not too bad, assuming the buyer feels like it's worth the money (which is a completely different kettle of fish!). If I was to hazard a guess I wouldn't be surprised if most people thought that a £3.5k guitar is simply not justifiable to them, even if they had all of the necessities paid for and saved a little bit every month for a couple of years. But then that dips into perceived value and worth etc.

    Hey Tweedbucket
I just bought a 74 Superlead from the US.
    $1050 US dollars + AU conversion = $1400 + shipping =$400 + customs = $200
When it arrives this week it will have cost me $2000. I shudder to think what importing a $3000 R8 is gonna cost.

About 6-7 years ago i was shopping for a R9 and went to a Sydney store. Marked price was $11000!!! I offered $6000 and the sales guy laughed like i must have been crazy.

I got a R0 from the US when the AU dollar was at parity and somehow didnt have to pay customs. So a US $2900 guitar ( a total dog by the way)cost me $3100 to my door. Same guitar today would be about $4300 to my door.
Pepedede says he can get a R8 for $3000 AU...?..wow not my experience at all on ebay, though i have seen close on Gumtree.
