Look at the Pigtronix Disnortion, How do you think it is modified where there are jack inserts instead of the buttons?

Just curious how this is working or is there relays doing it?

Probably just each channel is hooked up to a spot on a bypass looper. Just like would happen with any of the other pedals on board (which are all on all the time and bypassed remotely).

The Disnortion has three separate circuits (the od and fuzz running in parallel with the octavia in front) that can be turned on/off independently, and the footswitches most likely don't control the audio directly (they work as actuators for relay or electronic switching). If that is the case, replacing them with jacks to do external switching would be fairly simple. That allows the user to control the Disnortion fully, even though its audio runs in a single loop in the bypass looper.
