Just out of curiosity, how many drive/dirt pedals do you keep on your board? What are they?
Three, not including the Spark Mini (clean boost).
XTS Winford Drive
My first Klon klone is arriving today, so we'll see what happens then
Two, but one is a dual so that’s a grey area. Greer lightspeed and suhr eclipse.
I guess I was the one who use most
5 dirty pedals... If counting the booster, it's 6...
I currently have 4 - Blackstone, Barbershop, Broadcast & CC Hybrid.
I wind up using a max of two on at any given time.
Anasounds savage mkii for sale and a ssbs mini inbound.
BK butler tube driver
3 or 4 at a time.
I rotate the following:
BD-2 - “H2O” mod
currently I have these on my board:
Overdrive 1 - KOT
But I alos keep an Alpha Dog dist and a Rockbox super 763 which is preamp and mostly use it to boost/eq or as an always on when i get a ugly amp to play.
I use a straight gain boost, a Rivera Buf IV, in front of my real Rivera tube amp. Don't need any dirt pedals. I have enough dirt without pedals...Clean, too, with a channel switcher.
Two, at least as long as we're only talking ODs, and not Fuzzes: a Kingsley Minstrel, and a Kingsley Page DS.
(I have a few fuzzes on my board as well)
Henretta Octavia Fuzz
Mooer Blues Crab
Ibanez Mini TS9
Gurus Double Decker 1959
Ge London Fuzz
BMF Brass Knuckles (small box CompCut)
Any one, two, three or none.
I'm done looking for dirt pedals.
It's good to have options
Boss HM2 running into a Buffalo Patriot or a Buffalo RH-x for high gain muff sounds. (3)
Boss H2O mod for a clean boost.
Butler tube driver for an overdriven sound.
Boss BC2, into the Boss bd2 for my les paul high gain sound.
So 6 dirt pedals.
Maxon OD-9, Xotic RC Booster, Hendrix Fuzz Face Mini.
I think three OD`s is a good compromise to cover most of the things you want to achieve.
I got also three OD`s (plus a High gain Dis, but dont really use it at the moment):
Oddfellow Caveman V1
Klon, Keeley modded SD1, two different really "dirty" self-built ODs, and a Fromel modded Metal Zone. This is more than I need to create a wide range of tones, but I don't like to adjust pedals during a set and this number seems to be right for me in terms of separate and stacked possibilities that don't require twiddling knobs. BTW, the Fromel mods for the metal zone allow you to dial in anything from creamy Santana sustain to horrifically intense crunch and grind.
Marshall DSL set to medium gain. Timmyused for light boosting. Modified Badass OD for heavy boosting.
Keeley Red Dirt Mini(I use this to boost the gain in my amp, or one of the pedals)
Keeley Oxblood (always on, tone enhancer. Gives a nice girth to the tone)
JRAD The Dude
Bogner Ecstacy Red
I’ve got a problem, I know.
I switch the the Bogner and Friedman in and out. All pedals running thru DSL40c, which has a decent gain channel, but I like variety.
I LOVE DIRT!!!
Boss ds-1 modded
Boss sd-1 modded
Mxr mini booster
Mxr evh 5150
Fun stuff. Love how pedals and a clean amp offer nice sonic options for the local-level working player.
