allen,phillips,flat-head guitar tool, possibly with a precision string cutter built in,ala the "guitool"?

i'm talkin precise tolerances, such that when you adjust your strat saddles the allen keys actually FIT,and TURN.
metric for your fujigen fenders AND imperial?
built to last 20 years.

your thoughts?
..and if not, tell me what YOU'RE using, cause if i ever lose my 1980s
guitool,i'm sunk.

i meant to post this in poll form, but i don't know how.
also,if this violates any rules of conduct; moderators please delete.

i'm simply trying to gauge interest in such a thing to see if i can get a mighty fine machinist interested.
hope thats ok.

Hey changeling,

I used to own 2 Guitools. They were the best multi-tool for guitar repair and maintainence. Unfortunately, both of mine were stolen and the company that made the Guitool went out of business. Now I'm stuck carrying a small tool bag with screwdrivers, needle nose pliers, snips, & allen wrenches. I'd like to track down a used Guitool again and reduce the amount of tools in my tool bag.

i've been trying to track one down for YEARS.
but i'd like to have 5-one for each gig bag.
...but what if we could generate sufficient interest,say a 1000 piece run;
and have somebody really skilled make one?
and make it better(the string cutter really sucked on the original)?
that is what this is about.
if a thousand gear pagers are interested, doncha think we could get some attention from a really skilled machinist-guitarhead-genius type?
shoot,i wish i knew how to post a poll....:mad:

this is what i'm talking about.

an all purpose multi screwdriver/hex key/string cutter HAS to be as cool as another goofy od pedal with
custom paint,dontchall reckon?

I'd be interested.

I'm noticing lately that whenever I am doing a string change and setup on my guitars that I am making several trips down to my toolshed to grab this, that and the other tool that it's getting quite ridiculous.

A single, easy to use tool with most of the things I need built in and ready to go would be quite beneficial.

Yep, count me in. Taking care for my original guitool like "my precious" gollum :)
And with the right combination of imperial and metric allen keys, I get the whole Steinberger community to want one, too.

Great idea and I'd probably buy one. I had a guitool in the 80s. Great thing. Don't remember what happened to it:messedup Been carryin a small tool kit in a Sure mic bag for years. Works fine for me. But a new guitool would be nice.:beer

Just for background here's the original thread: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/1145936

I've done some more research and found this:

not bad but imo not enough allen keys and it must be awkward to use if you can't fold it into a handle. Then there's this one (scroll down to Guitar/Bass Multi-Tool):

probably enough keys but it doesn't have a string cutter.

They won't, because most of them aren't members on TGP (just two or three of them are around here). However, I'm pretty sure my "count me in" stands for at least 10-15 items without even asking them, which I'd order at once. Which makes me the European distributor, doesn't it? :D

i just got a reply from bill callaham,i wrote him yesterday asking if he'd be interested in doing a thousand piece run of the mojo clorenzo..heh.
he said the shop is far too busy to undertake such a project at this time:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:,
ah well;
guess i'll have a look at those ibanez thingies.
sorry for the anticlimax guys;maybe someone else has an idea of who could make a cool tool for the gigbag.
