We are pretty disciplined at it, so, I would say we are around 90% at home.
A little harder when we are away, e.g., on vacation, hotels, etc.
Airports have some pretty good recycling bins and I just hope they are legit.
    So, how about everyone else?

At home we recycle everything that can be recycled.

Traveling - you are right - tough call - you never know if
the bins are just lip service. But I put all recyclable
    trash into an appropriate bin.

It amazes me to watch people buy something at a
fast food joint - all sorts of trash - they get the food
and it comes with a 1/2 pound of destroyed tree
that goes right into the garbage - 30' from the counter
    to the table.

    The wastefulness is depressing.

All the can guys around here closed shop when oil floored.

It was more fun to drink beer and get paid for it.

Everything. I feel guilty if I don't put a gum wrapper in the recycle bin.

We have a recycle bin, but I would keep the aluminum cans separate and sell them down the street for a few bucks.

After a few jam nights, this might bring a tidy sum to buy a pound of barbacoa. Cycle of life, brah.

I recycle everything, it used to be a pain in the butt because you had to have a bin for paper and one for plastic, then the pickup was on a rotation so one week it was paper the next week it plastic etc. etc. Now everything can go in the same bin and everything is picked up every week. I don't know why everyone around here doesn't do it but on recycle day if you look up and down my alley you'll see about 20% of the people recycle but on trash day 100% of the people have trash out. My trash pretty much consist of left over food that has or is about to spoil, it's not even 2/3 of a tall kitchen bag.

I've been recycling my whole adult life. It's so easy now, you'd have to go out of your way not to do it.

San Jose gives one small can for garbage, and a can twice the size for recycling. No separation is required for recycling. Everybody in our neighborhood has both out every week. Simple.

We also have a bin for yeard waste which they will use for compost and the such.

We recycle just about everything we reasonably can. Like Seth said, it's so easy to do these days that there is no good excuse to not recycle plastics, paper, etc.

    Peace,

Not many recycling options around here, but some.

We compost all kitchen waste, and there are separate bins at work, but curbside pickup seeing everything.

Here, the city also cut down garbage collection to once every 2 weeks (recycling and compost is every week). We're starting to get some zero packaging retailers and restaurants here (i.e. bring your own containing) which will help - it won't work for everything (yet), but for many things it makes sense.

Hopefully the city will start directly charging for garbage, by volume - then we'll see almost everyone make a serious effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

First of all if you're not trolling your attitude is reprehensible.

Back to the subject we recycle everything that can be recycled.

Out East in PEI our friends have a guide with very specific rules and it amounts to dividing trash into 5 or 6 different areas.

When you live on an island I think you're much more aware that space is finite.

You need them at work to help offset the fuel burns on Gulfstreams! :)
