    Hey gang,

I saw a 2004 Honeyburst, Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Standard on the local classifieds the other day. These don't come up for sale very often so I'm struggling to find comparables for price. This one comes with the original hard shell case, and Slash SD pickups but has some minor wear on the back (belt rash).

Any idea if $800 (Canadian) is fair? Have you seen/sold any recently? I can't remember exactly but I think new they were ~$1000.

It would likely be a bit of a rush decision to purchase - wasn't planning on buying a new guitar for a couple months but when opportunity knocks...

Before seeing this I was interested in the Epiphone LP Custom Pro (TV Silver ltd. ed.) and the 2014 Gibson LPJ ('61 pickups). I want to try them in store soon - any thoughts on comparability/quality to the Elitist?

Looking forward to your input - thanks!

The Elitist Customs are getting stronger prices than the standards and are rarer. I think that it is a good price especially given the weakness of the CDN dollar. The Elitists are significantly better IMO.

First of all, the Elite/Elitist Les Pauls are GREAT instruments. I would say they are on-par with the USA Les Paul Standards.

There are 2 different models of the Standard - the regular and Plus models (which have flamed maple tops). The regular models are worth in the $800-900 range, and the Plus is $1000-1200 (US dollars). As you can imagin, the condition, originality, and type of case can affect the value. Also, some of the maple tops are nicer than others, which adds value. Finally, the lighter burst colors seem to sell for a bit more than the Vintage Burst (dark burst) finish.

The Custom version is also very nice, and I have seen them sell in the same range as a nice Plus model.

$800-$1000 seems to be the going rate.

I bought mine used five years ago for $900 (canadian) and it was worth every penny.

Thanks for all the input guys! I'll try and set up a time to see it this weekend and...if all goes well...may post some victory NGD pics.

$800 to $1000 USD seems to be the norm but they are totally worth every penny, anything less than that and you have a steal. I have had a Elitist Custom from 2007 and I have not been able to find a Les Paul under $3000 that I could honestly say my guitar doesnt play or sound as well as.

I bought my son an Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Custom from the emporium two years ago and paid $975 including shipping to NZ.

I've seen a few standards lately in the $650 - $700 range which seem like a steal to me.

Hey gang, thanks again for the input. Just to go full circle on this, I picked it up for $700 CAD (about $560 USD with todays exchange). She's got a few dings but nothing major and the top is pretty nice for not being a Plus top. Good to know I can probably get the same or more out of it in the future if I ever decide to sell.

That is definitely the PLUS model. Easily worth $1000-1100.

You got a great deal. Beautiful guitar, and as others have said, the Elitist's play great.
