Based on feedback from members, we have decided to not go ahead with those changes. However, it has also highlighted that we need some community input into what is working and what is not working for members here. Primarily focused on the Emporiums, we'd like input on your thoughts about TGP and how things work in the Emporiums for you and how you'd improve them. The discussion thread on the is here!

I just got the new Guitar Player with Neal Schon on the cover. In the interview he said when he gets a new guitar he takes off the strings and rubs the fretboard with salami. Wipes it off and restrings.
He got the idea from an interview with Wes Montgomery where he said he liked playing after eating a salami sandwich to grease it up.
Anyone here try this or something similar?

I would think twice, before having anyone wiping their salami on your fretboard.

Wouldn't that just absolutely stink after a few weeks? I think that stuff smells bad enough at the best of times...
Read somewhere that Jaco would eat fried chicken and not wipe his hands before playing.
That's gross and disgusting and goes a long way to explaining why old guitar cases smell so bad..

Neil might have better results by running his fingers thru his hair before playing.

During the interview he actually wiped his head and started playing saying "I use my own grease. It's organic!"

Man, I can't think of anything worse. Although I do occasionally lube the tips of my fingers with oil from my face, especially when playing classical (on my right hand) or steel string. I can help reduce string squeek in left hand shifting.
