Is once a month enough?
Also, can you recommend a certain brand of polish/cleaner?
Twice a week.
Use bull semen.
I like to use KY Jelly to lubricate my switches and jacks. I find it has a certain high end resonance for my distortion pedals.
lol, that's funny. seriously though, do you just use a furniture polish? auto wax? i don't want to damage the finish--just want to keep them nice.
After any gig. Alpaca lard.
Is this a euphemism?
You polish your pedals? Is that a euphemism? Never heard anything so daft in my life. I polish my guitars every month or two, but that's about it.
I use a solution i created mixing some home detergents, and qtips for the hard to reach parts.
i try to polish my guitars every other day--depending on use. obviously pedals aren't anything as precious as a guitar--but they do get stepped on with socks and stuff and occaisionally get fingerprints on them. i just want to keep them nice as long as i can.
i was thinking of getting one of those rack drawers and just using a midi switcher to control everyhting on the floor. but i kind of enjoy polishing, so what the hell.
You only polish the inside of your pedals, right?
thanks for the tip.
Will definitely use some q-tips next time. do you take the knobs off? or can the q-tip get under there?
I'll have to ask my butler what he uses.
I would take the knobs off. I wouldn't remove the washers though. You can if you want to every other time but it starts to strip the threads of the pot and it'll start to lose value if you get overzealous with the Q tip
The number of times I've polished a pedal in 30+ years of being a musician = 0. Is that really a thing people do?
i wouldn't trust anyone to polish my pedals except me. but more power to you if you can afford it.
Any of you guys named Monk and solve murder cases for San Francisco PD? Just curious.
The most I've ever done is wipe them occasionally with a clean cloth (i.e. a pocket handkerchief) if and only if I see noticeable blemishes I might've recently made. I try to keep my hands pretty clean when handling my pedals, just like when I handle a guitar; so I might wash my hands prior to playing, etc.
I clean all my gear minimally I guess. I've never thought about keeping stuff in mint condish, exactly.
thanks Urinate. i'll generally just leave the knobs on. in the past i've tried to use compressed air to get the dust out from under--but i think i'll give the q-tip a try. i suppose i'll swab gently at first--definitely don't want to scratch anything.
