How stupid do I feel about having taken $450 on a trade-in for one of these?

I didn't know there was a custom shop version. That's low even for the everyday SRV sig strat.

Yeah, now it's Custom Shop, but the specs appear to be essentially the same. Not sure what's custom about it, other than the price.

[Edit: Now I see it's nitro finished.]

in 97 dollars that's about $700 give or take. They're only going for around 1k today. So that's not so bad.

This is the Rosewood/nitro. I’m assuming yours was the Pau Ferro/poly.

The one you sold for $475 is worth more than $475, I’ve seen them go for $850.

I never feel bad about something I have sold...but when if comes to feeling stupid, smoking for 30 years is tops on my list! Could have had a Dumble and a new pair of tan pants for each day of an entire year! In the 5 years that I have quit, I figure I am about 18K closer to the Tan Pants/ Dumble dream...rock on:)

I traded in a mint Ibanez TS-10 to guitar center for like 20 bucks off something. it was before John Mayer used one so it was when they didn't sound good

I remember those SRV strats in the Musician's Friend catalogs priced at $1,000 or so in the late '90s.

The one at Wildwood is a CS model which should sound 1000% better than those nineties ones. ;)

I had to check your math on this. And wow! You are right! Seven bucks a day times 365 day times 5 is over 12,000?! Geez. I'm gonna start smoking. Then quit. Then buy myself a 60s Tele with all the money I'm saving!

There was no custom shop SRV back in 1997. The only production SRV that would bring decent $$$ is the first production run which had rosewood fretboards and I believe 1992.

I would have bought your SRV for $450 back then, that was a steal.

They would also need to mow the lawn and purge my garage twice a year to be worth it. :dunno

I still have my '94 SRV, those were not "Custom Shop" at the time but the American Artist series. It's a great guitar.

In 1976 I traded a 1963 Strat even for a new Gibson Midnight Special. I was the king of all idiots.

Man I remember in 1997 looking at those, at Strait Music, I think they were around $950 new, and I just never went for it, now they are custom shop build, but back then a Standard Strat was solidly built...so I wish I had gone for it. I am glad I did get the Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton models though, and have been super happy with them..
