How to mount Dimarzio pickups in LP-style mounting ring?

In trying to mount a pair of DiMarzio pickups in a Les Paul copy, I found that the holes for the mounting screws in the ears of the pickups are larger than the screws that fit the bezel. In other words, there is no way to anchor the pickups to the mounting bezel, short of supergluing a nut to the back side of the pickup ears.

The pickups I'm trying to install came from a Music Man Axis Super Sport (into which I had a tech install DiMarzio EJ pups), and I don't have a good idea of what the screw holes on those pups looked like. The screws that came with the EJs don't fit the MM holes either. Are the MM pickups standard size? How are pickups typically mounted in LP-style guitars with adjustable bezels if this is the case?

Thanks.

Yah, the pups were definitely mounted to the body on the Axis SS, rather than to a mounting bezel.

Got an answer directly from DiMarzio support (on a Sunday! -- I emailed them basically the same question) within an hour:

It sounds like your Music Man pickups were drilled out for direct mount
to the guitar body. It's a fairly common practice, so common that we
offer brass nuts that you can solder or super glue to the pickup feet to
make them work on a Les Paul.

There's no charge. Please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:

Fantastic.
