Here's one way I often practice licks and lines - play them in different areas of the neck.

    My method

    1. Start with a lick
    2. practice lick
    3. stop practicing.
    4. practice lick with metronome
    5. practice lick without guitar/sing
    6. make big apolgies to all that heard you sing
    7. take a walk, eat
    8. start over
    9. goes to brad347 for suggesting to play only as long as you have
interest, don't play through fatique, that works against creativity imo. Thanks Brad.
