How to remove Sharpie ink from a Gibson?

Hey guys,

I have a Gibson in ebony that someone use a sharpie on to cover blemishes. As you might imagine, that sharpie looks worse that the scratches ever would. Is there a good way to remove this without damaging the finish? I'm pretty sure its nitro(aren't all Gibsons nitro?), and I think nitro is probably more delicate than other finishes. Any advice?

Thanks!

What about a black lacquer pen? If you're comfortable with finish work, you might be able to cover it up and then use a lacquer stick to fill in any gap. Buff and polish it out and you will never know!

Alcohol won't hurt the nitro any? Just don't want to have some weird chemical reaction or anything...thanks guys!
