Nice top on yours. I think they're using AAA rated tops in 2016. I like the one on my 2016 cherry burst as well. They're doing good things this year. More importantly this is the first LP I've picked up that didn't need a bunch of work done to it off the shelf. Sounds great and plays great.

Not my style. But has good flame, if that's the pattern you like.

Honestly, it looks like a slight chevron and total BBQ top.
Not my thing. If you dig it well, that's all that matters.

    Trying to like chevrons.

The flame, in general is nice, and has a soft chevron. Fiddleback territory. Like that it does not have the screw holes. Hold a pickguard over it & take a few pic's. Cosmetically you have many options.

Again, the chevrons and possibly the "blend" of colors. The darker shade on the lower bout is burnt for what you say is tea burst:dunno .2ยข

Love it. Don't dare cover any of it with a pickguard.

I personally can't stand flame top guitars.

The flame is straight and the wood's grain is prominent and mostly straight in the opposite/cross direction. Making the top look somewhat like a BBQ gill.

BBQ my butt. That top has a nice graceful chevron and gorgeous match. It does not give the appreance of running straight across as the flame "bars are slightly offset". The curly mineral streaks under the flame adds nice interest too. Grab it. If were in the market for an LP, I would jump on it.

BBQ top? Can you explain? I guess tact is not your strong point. You've been challenged by a few of us. Now tells what a BBQ top is, please.

That's a very pretty top, with vertical and horizontal grain patterns going on. Go for it.

    pass.

absolutely zero subtlety to the flame. IMO these guitars look much better with a wide, uneven flame with inclusions and rings. the top in the OP doesnt give that immediate "this is a piece of maple" feeling.

also the carve on that top doesnt look nearly deep enough for my taste.

    You asked for honesty...

Not really an outstanding top. Kind of mediocre actually and I would pass based on looks alone.

...now if it were a monster player then I could be convinced.
