Hum on neck pickup! HELP!

Hey! I'm new to this site. I use an Epiphone Les Paul Standard and a Vox vt30. The problem is that when I play pretty high gain/volume leads on the neck pickup, there is a loud and very high pitched noise if I touch the pole pieces of the pickup or it I slide my hand on the neck of the guitar. When I use the Bridge pickup, however, I don't get this noise at all. It is very annoying and I haven't found a solution. PLEASE HELP ME!

(All LP parts are stock, including pickup)

Hey LPDude, it sounds like the polarity on your neck pickup may be reversed. This would attach hot to the shield and subsequently the metal polepieces of your pickup. All would seem fine until you touch the poles and/or your body grounding comes in contact with the hot thus making your noises. Try flipping the polarity of the neck pup first and see it that's the cure.

Thanks for the reply. I just learned that the pick up hums when I turn the volume and gain up. So basically, it hums even if I do not touch it.
