HX Stomp with Looper

Fedex will be delivering an HX Stomp today (waiting on a delivery is both the best and worst feeling)

I plan to use a Boss RC-10R with it and am wonder if something is possible.

I know for sure that I can put the Looper in the stereo effects loop. This is pretty straightforward.

BUT - if I dont want to “waste” a block on the fx loop - could I send the main output of the stomp to the input of the looper and then send the output of the looper into the return of the HX Stomp using the aux in setting? If this would work should I set the output to Line or Instrument?

Why do you need to use loop at all? Just go Stomp into the looper.

When I play through my FRFR system this is what I plan to do. The reason to use the loop or return is so I can use headphones. The Boss Looper does not have a headphone out.
