I can't believe this 1966 kalamazoo is 42 years old

I snaffled this guitar today for a few hundred bucks. It sat in its case for 42 years. Amazingly it plays and sounds incredible. Somewhere between an sg and a strat.

I always thought these Gibson made kalamazoos were junk but this guy is awesome. Everything is perfect including all the 66 dated pots.

The neck is really good, with a super low action and no buzz.

Anyone else played one of these guys before?

I had one around 1970 . I thought it was a great guitar. Pickups are a little noisy. It stayed in tune well . I used to play it through a Fender Bandmaster head. Kalamazoo and Melody Makers were the low end of the Gibson line at the time.

As a kid, I owned and played your new guitar's twin brother. Kind of a medium blue color. Not really daphne or sonic, but more of what I'd call the 'corvette' blue. Plenty good enough guitar for a 12-14 year old kid!

Nice find and yours is in incredibly good condition. Enjoy.

The intonation on those drive me insane on all the ones I have tried.

I actually know a kid that has a white one of those in mint or near mint condition here at Belmont, but he has no idea what it is.

Having played it for a few hours I would have to say, this is a proper guitar. I am getting some great tones out of it, and the quality of the build is excellent.

It feels very sg like, but with a strat feel.

here is photo of the insides.
