that most people on this forum would say "tone's in your fingers" yet they chase a certain D_ _ ble tone of Ford and Carlton almost like an obsession.
If tone's in the fingers, just plug in and play thru your home stereo and get that tone! The amp should not make any difference.
Maeks absolutely no sense to me...;)

A great amp and the correct choice of speaker(s)
does a better job of translating the player's touch
    and technique.

So they work together at best.

Not really, but the flexibility of accounts related to that wallet may indeed
affect the users ability to enhance that tone :)

At least you can separate "technique" and "tone" ... most people get them confused.

"Tone is in the fingers." That has got to be the most innane, idiotic comment ever. If this were true, we'd all be playing through G-Dec's. If I took Derek Trucks and had him play through Warren Haynes rig, he would not exactly like Derek! He would sound like Derek playing through Warren's rig. Style and technique are in the fingers, tone is in the guitar and amp.

    ^^ the answer^^

c'mon, men. enough of this already.

what's more important for a great pizza: the cheese, the toppings, the dough, the sauce or the way you make it?

a crap player can make a great rig sound crap and a great player can make a crap rig sound great. and then there's a great player on a great rig.

    Bang on!!!

Why does Ford or Carlton play thru a D _ _ ble??

Why did EVH use that "one" old Marshall so many years?

Why do many of us own more than one amp?

Why doesn't Steve Vai plug directly into the PA instead of his Bogner?

    lol....

Style and technique are in the fingers, tone is in the guitar and amp.

Hey, you familiar with the term relative? Some times it's wise to not take things too literally ;)

Taste is in the mouth so it shouldn't matter what food we eat?

    :JAM

Btw, haven't this been discussed here before...once?
