I'm pretty stoked, I was looking through Kijiji the other night and saw that I guy just up the road from me was selling his near mint, two year old SG Standard with hardshell case for $750.00 Canadian (appx.$703.00 USD)

I wasn't planning on buying another guitar but this seemed like a deal too good to pass up, so I scrambled over to the banking machine and got over to his place in a hurry, I knew that it wouldn't last long at that price.

The guitar is near mint and is a real looker in that beautiful Heritage Cherry finish. It plays great and sounds just as good too.

I already had a Les Paul Standard and never dreamed that I'd ever get to add an SG to my collection but I lucked out this time.

I'm so happy with my new axe that I thought that I'd share my good fortune with you guys.
Anybody else here a fan of the SG Standard?

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago. I put one of my rifles on a gun trader site and for some reason a guy had his natural burst SG for sale on the site. I took a chance and sent him a trade offer and he took it. It's in great shape and plays and sounds awesome. I too am a long time Les Paul guy and have never owned an SG but I'm having a hard time picking up my nine pound R8 when this thing is around and sounds so mean. I've got $800 in it with case and couldn't be happier.

Thanks lougio.

Hey Red Fish, that too is an awesome looking SG, it reminds me a little of my Les Paul in Honeyburst, a very classy looking axe!

BTW, I'll try to post some pictures of my new to me SG soon if anyone's interested.

Congratulations! I have 2 standards an Ebony 02 model and a 1975 Standard and love them both. They play fantasticaly, sound great and just feel "right" when straped-on.

THAT is a sweet-lookin' SG.
I almost pulled the trigger on one a couple months ago.
If I find a deal like you and/or the original poster...

Very sweet acquisition

SG's are just cheap badass Les Pauls. They were good enough for Santana, Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks, and AC/DC right? And there about as much as an American Strat!

That was a good deal. I got lucky a few years back and got a mint heritage cherry SG Standard from a little pawn shop for $500.00 with original case.

Wow, $500.00!

I can tell you that around here, you find this stuff at almost full retail price, Kijiji is your friend where I live.

I own 4 Gibsons.... 2 Historic LPs, a PTSG and a SG Standard. I play the SG Standard about 3 times more than the others combined. Great guitars!

Yeah, I guess I did go a little bit overboard with the amount of pics. Like a proud new Dad.:D

The guy who sold me this guitar had a new set of .009s on it which is too slinky for my tastes, I put on a set of .010s last night and torqued up the truss rod a bit to straighten the neck a bit more, the guitar plays a lot better IMHO.

I actually like the stock 490R and 498T pickups but I've got a '57 Classic and '57 Classic + on my Epiphone Dot Deluxe, I'm kind of half toying with the idea of putting those pickups on my SG, what do you guys think?

Here's my SG score from a few weeks ago. A 1970 SG Deluxe I got from a local guy via Craigslist. Total cost: $600
