So, yp, I've got a 59/JB combo in my les paul and I'd like to be abel to split the couil so I can get a little bit different tone when needed. Is it possible to do that with these pickups? How is it normally done? Thanks!

Probably. Humbuckers need to be 4 conductor to be used as splits, most SD pickups are. Look in the control panel and see if there are 4 colored wires coming from each pickup, if so they can be wired up for splitting phase etc.

I believe the 59 is NOT 4 conductor unless it's a specially ordered one.

I have a tapped JB and Jazz in my Explorer and both have a good sound when split. Not sure about the 59.

Yeah, as long as they are both 4 conductor. SD sells both version of the '59, so it depends on that. I've seen them in stores, so it's not just a special order pickup.
