"The Pub" is a general discussion forum, not a guitar forum.

It really isn't that difficult to grasp.

And I don't hear you complaining about the 8 million threads on global warming, cars, The Walking Dead, my douchebag neighbor, etc..

    Clearly a troll thread.

I think the point is--this isn't a GUN forum either. But one wonders at times.

This from a guy who doesn't have any room in his large gun safe. LOTS of other gun forums around.

Well, that's what the owners of the board want. Their board their rules.

Personally i dont think there is such a thing as an apolitical gun thread but the mods see it differently.

    OP, I feel your pain!!

Many of us have lobbied those that run this site to come up with some way that would allow us to avoid/not read threads that don't interest us....alas, it seems to have fallen on deaf ears!

It's disappointing as it would be SUCH a simple thing to implement....they could do it by creating individual "threads" that have titles describing the content of the thread. In this way we could determine our interest in the "thread" without ever being forced to read or participate in content we have no interest in.

Someday OP, someday! We have a dream!!

That implies bias on your part.

As one newbie to another, they have their own ways of doing things here, which is why I joined. Traded a 1911 for a Strat recently, so it all squares.

Certainly, but not exclusivly. For better or worse gun ownership, right, use etc has become incredibly politicized in public discourse to the point where most any talk about firearms seem to carry a message.

The same could be said about a myriad of topics. Climate change, nuclear power/weapons, even seatbelt discussions go that way usually. That doesn't change the fact that many of us are quite capable of discourse on these subjects without giving a thought to any political ramifications.

I completely agree. It should be possible to talk about all those topics without getting into politicsYet i routinely see threads on agw, aca and so on be locked for being political while gun threads arent. Some potentially political subjects are treated as political while others arent.

Anyway, it's not a big deal for me - that is what the mods want and that is fine by me. I was just making an observation

That's because most gun threads here rarely devolve into pro-gun/anti-gun crapfests. And I see very many threads on oil, GW, etc. that go on for quite a long time until some dipshit crosses the line.
