It doesn't sound as loud as I think it should. My other guitar player has a blues jr and his amp sounds as loud or louder than my Ampeg.....does anyone know why this is the case..??

also the overdrive channel hardly even breaks up at all...not really sure what's going on with the amp..

The Amp is in my avatar pic

weak Power tubes??? I'd take it to a tech. As for the combo guitar amps Ampeg makes, I have found them to always have less volume than say most Fender guitar amps.

    My VT-40 says otherwise.

theres no way a 15 watt amp should be louder than a 60 watt amp...

Ditto that! I owned a 4x10 VT-40 combo for awhile (which had been converted to take EL-34's, instead of the... 7591's?? - can't remember - it was originally designed to run). Anyway, that combo was brutally loud (and brutally heavy), but sounded great. Very Marshall Plexi-ish to my ear! Kind of wish I still had it, although it was a pain to lug around.

    Agreed.
    I had a VT40 that screamed.

Turn it up and it sounded like "Can't you hear me knockin"

So I have my amp volume on 7 and I am in my house playing and its not that loud...kinda like a practice amp..that's why I think there is something amiss....its should be way too loud on 7 to be playing inside my house with people watching tv in the next room.....but its not

It should be rattling stuff off your shelves at 7.
