I just had a practice where I plugged straight into the amp!

It's crazy I know but we're doing Misfits covers for a friend on Friday and I brought my Rat (only) but the batteries were dying so I went straight into the Dr. Z Mazerati with the '65 SG Special and ******* if it wasn't super sweet. I bet I could do a show with just those and an Eternity and I'd be happy.

The music I do with my original band is more dynamic so I like my cleans to be clean but the P-90s and Marshallized AC30type amp sounded great for RAWK!

    Do I need $1800 worth of pedals?:crazy:hide:messedup

Straight in is often best. Pedals are fun, but they can really get in the way of good tone sometimes.

Only 1800$ worth of pedals? That's like playing straight into the amp already!!! :hide
I love playing straight into it as well though... Great dynamics usually... :)

:horseyou can get awesome tone going straight into the amp
the best thing is not having to worry about cables crapping out, pedals misbehaving, power cutting out etc.

also no tap dancing, no worries and best of all you can just focus on your guitar

You mean actually play music--like a whole song? Not just a few notes, then a knob tweak, then a few more notes, then another knob tweak? [Shudder.]

I never quite understand the motivation for these threads. :dunno

Other than the fact that you had a singular experience where you were happy without pedals, what exactly is your point?

It's like posting on a car forum, "I just got from point A to point B by walking!"

Sometimes, it is good to remember extra batteries for your pedals.
