I can't wait to get this thing! I ordered the Chili Red. I have not yet decided on the color of the Grill cloth. The choices are black or Gold. Has anybody seen the Gold with the Red?
    What do ya' all think?

congrats on the great new amp!!! I bet you will love it!! I think no home or studio should be without one of these sonic gems!
I haven't seen that color combination and so can't be helpful about that...

Did you order with the 6V6 or 6L6 configuration?

Dave will bias the amp either way depending on your choice.

Congratulations - you will not be disappointed! I thought about the red but ended up getting the blond (nice looking amp). I bet the red with gold grill cloth would look classy.

Here's a trio shot Dave had out with some photoshopping on the red amp. I sampled some of the color from the blonde grill....can't really duplicate all of the tones but it'll give you an idea:

Red and the right color of wheat would look good, also black salt and pepper,
    gold will certainly be showy.

Are you particular to the 6V6? I don't know what the upcharge is but if you're ordering directly from Dave, he could set you up with the transformer to let you run either tube type...

Home is where the guitar is!
I acquired my Gries 5 back in November. It has the 6L6 upgrade and the Chili Red tolex/Wheat grill cloth scheme.

Let me just say that this is a killer amp. Sounds pretty good up and down the volume scale. I am glad that I did get the 6L6 upgrade because this amp has become my rehearsal amp and the 6L6 gives me just enough head room to hang with the rest of our band (drums/bass/keys/harp). Volume is definitely no problem as it gets plenty loud.

If you gig regularly with a band you may want to get the tube upgrade.

Happy Pick'in, cuz your getting a hell of an amp!

I've had my Gries 5 for over a year and I still love it. It is one great sounding amp.

What a wonderful amp. You should really enjoy it. I had to let mine go because I only have room for 2 and I already have the Fender stuff covered.

But, it was an awesome amp to own and I'm glad I got the chance. For low volume playing with pedals, this amp is hard to beat. And if you find you're missing the 'verb, I can't recommend highly enough the VanAmps Sole-Mate (you can get it in matching red, too!).

Dave's customer service is top shelf, too.

I have a blonde one - love it to the core!

Maybe Sid, you could put up a pic of your red/gold so that the TS can see what he may be in for :)

    P90Nut,

You're in for a treat. I don't own a 5 but did have access to one for a couple weeks back in '06. Very versatile little amp with loads of tone on tap.

I've had a 1x12 model 35 for over 2 years and the honeymoon is still on.

    Enjoy!

Could someone post some clips? I am in the market for a low wattage blackface type amp and would love to hear how it sounds. Thanks.

You guy's are great! Thank you for all of your input. The positive feelings that ya'all have for this amp, inspire's confidence in my decision. You know how that insidious buyer's remorse creeps up on you. I purchased this amp without ever hearing it. As you all know, clips do not exist for this amp. I spent a great deal of time reading posts from all of you, before deciding to buy. I feel fortunate to be part of this community!

    Again,

    Thanks,

With the gain cranked, you get a really nice tweed-style crunch.

Bump for a nice amp. I have had my Gries 5 for almost a year now and still play it every day, its a killer little amp. I don't think you have to worry about buyers remorse, your going to love it. I took a leap of faith and bought mine with out ever trying or hearing one and have never looked back. Enjoy!!
