HI I always loved the sight of a small headstock on a Gibson Les Paul, never liked the 70thies look of the headstocks. Now with the historic, VOS and Customshop I can have the nice small headstock. Its the same thing with Fender just love the small vintage headstocks. What do you like ?

I agree. Not a fan of the wider '70s style headstocks either.

    I have/like both.

I like the larger headstock because I feel better about having a big mass of wood at the end of the neck...seems like it should help sustain...

I don't know if it does...it rings as long as my small headstock pauls...so unless you're talking about looks, I don't think it's a detriment.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...:)

They're still bigger than this Gibby headstock though :D

I dunno about you guys, but I personally really dig that headstock. Sure it's not as classic as the open book ones, but it's a nice modern take on the Gibson style IMO.

Straight string pull too which is an issue for almost all Gibsons with the openbook headstocks in regards to tuning.

I can't stand the big gawdy 70's Fender headstocks.

I don't like large headstocks either---on Gibby's or Fenders. Fenders in particular look like bad imports with the big headstock---IMO, of course.
