His two albums are fulla great tunes. Anyone who hasn't heard his new(er) album, "10,000 feet," needs to go over to Amazon/iTunes NOW and download "Sqwawk." What he lacks in spelling ability, he makes up in spades on tone and playing.

He and Marc Ford are the two musicians whose music I try most to foist on my non-player friends. Although I gotta say, I prefer Ford's slow stuff to Grissom's.

Was gonna post about going to hear The Booze Weasels this Saturday which is usually David Grissom, David Holt, Jimmy Petit, and Davis McLarty but then there was a burb in the Chron about it being a power trio with Holt this time around(which ain't a bad thing but i guess two Davids are better then one).
    Anyone know the scoop?

A real inspiration, truly great. Oddly I have neither of his solo things. And I have a $50 gift card from iTunes for Christmas.

    Hmmm.

10,000 Feet & Loud Music are two of my favorite records. Great songwriting, great tones, and great playing! David Grissom is one of my favorite players.

Both great in their own way. For me Grissom's finest recorded moments are on 'Live at Liberty Lunch' by Joe Ely. Check out the epic 'Letter to L.A.' and see if you still prefer Ford to Grissom on the slow stuff.

Fun show last night. DG used an (apparently) unlabeled PRS amp head.

Rumour is that David is working with PRS/Sewell on a signature amp, could be a prototype.

I loved his Storyville stuff with David Holt and Malford Milligan. I love David's style. I remember seeing him on ACL with Joe Ely. He was playing through a few old Marshalls with about 10 PRS guitars. Sounded killer.

I had a chance to see him do a clinic here in Nashville a few weeks ago. Fantastic player and seems like a really nice guy, too. And, of course, his playing is fantastic. I ended up buying both his CDs that night.

First time I saw, and knowingly heard, David Grissom was with Joe Ely for a performance of 'Driving to the Poorhouse' on late night television. He was playing his gold top PRS and I decided at that moment that I would have one similar. I now own a gold finish PRS Custom 22.

That would explain it. The amp had a silver, unfinished faceplate with no name on it. The only drive/OD/boost pedal he had (on his 4 pedal pedalboard) was one of those new little EP Booster pedals -- and he sounded just like he always does through Marshalls or Bad Cats.
