I HAVE to use triads-cuz i cant seem to connect the dots!!

No seriously tho-I lack a solid scale system-I never could get thru the damn
Berklee method...the triad thing I got from piano study-in fact sometimes
i visualize triads moving around on piano[so easy there]-whle playing guitar.

i might get a buddy to put horns on -like Breckers or tower o' Power
im glad you like it-i started that arrangement after watching the Thelonius Monk doc over two years ago-love that guy-grew up with that stuff!

thanks guys-my ears are still ringing from doin it !:BEER

Hey if you don't mind me asking how do you get your vocals so clear? Thats what we have the most trouble with. Great playing and song by the way.

druss-its taken me about a year to get the vocals sitting
right in my new stuff-to get out front of the grooves & guitars-

part of it is in the actual lyrics i write-i pick words that have cutting power-
I also "carve" out the mix to fit the emotion of the voice or
whatever solos may be goin on-

I use a Rodes Classic 2-[real rcording engineers will say poo-poo on that-
but for me its OK-]I moniter with compression-so I can lay into the consanants without it sounding ugly-record low-so no clipping-then I use a whole whack of different plug-ins-waves Renasance Vox-
ones I got recently is Kaejerhus -great for vox-really transparent.

This is crucial::I also manually adjust gain for lines-or even words
in the line as compression doesn't catch all of it-(unless you compress real hard-and then to me it starts soundin "less" clear)-I never go below 3 minus or plus on these tweaks or it sounds unnatural.

thats about it-then i master the whole track too-which tends to glue the vocals or lead solos-back into the track-its all very incremntal & time-consuming....

feel free to email direct too

Is Scott Henderson an influence of yours? I'm hearing an extremely similar phrasing style and tone. By the way, this song kicks serious ass!!!

duffyguitarman-I still need to use real drums/bass/B3 etc-Im just trying to get the $ for that-Im hoping I can keep the guitars/vox I do at home...thanx.

renico00-the first time I heard Scott was about 82-83-a bassplayer in our
band went to GIT with Scott[this is a vague recollection here]-
he used to bring cassettes back of them jamming-I cant say for sure-but i guess we were both rocknrollers then-i re-discovered him in the Tribal Tech stuff in the 90's-but I really started likin' the Dog Party stuff-cuz i never get more jazzy than that[obviously SH can tho!!]

Frank C::-on alt. or diminished chords theres a basic triadic theory/device that is used in jazz-play the same minor or major triad acsending in minor 3rds---that gives you 4 posistions-thats just the basic idea-it can get really twisted from there:-for example-I sometimes quickly play those triads on the "passing" notes of the diminished scale-you cant stay there too long or it sounds wrong... i think this stuff really got goin strong with Coltrane etc.
if I try to explain further Ill confuse myself!;)
