he was in our shop today blowing a gift card someone gave him. i bs'ed with him about gibsons and broken necks, and then he did something way cool.

he saw a kid playing a guitar with that dreamy look in his eyes, thinking "i wish i had this". he quietly asked us how many we had in stock, then put together a package behind the kids back.

    merry christmas little dude.

i'm not a fan of the music, i'm not really in his "demographic". but holy crap was he classy.

and also, is it weird that as a 27 year old man, i want to tell complete strangers how cool i think nick jonas is?

That is a pretty cool thing that he did. Hopefully it will inspire the recipient.

It's awesome that as pre-fabricated as the Jonas Brothers' product comes across- it's nice to know they "get" it.

Hey, let's face it, HE might not even dig the music he's doing! If you had a chance at being mega rich at his age playing music wouldn't you? He can do any music he wants to...now & without a care in the world.

Nice thing he did for sure. REAL class!

I love this story and I'm really happy to hear about it.

I have a friend I haven't seen in a while, but he worked at a hardware store in Pasadena in his teens. Eddie Van Halen used to come in. They'd talk a little bit about guitar and then one day Ed brought in one of his Kramers and gave it to him completely out of the blue. That's one of my favorite stories, too. Can you imagine? And this was in the 80's, too, when Eddie Van Halen was EDDIE VAN HALEN. Though he always will be to me.

Good to hear about that... it's never the musicians themselves I have a problem with, it's their music. But hey you know what, I think anything that gets kids of that demographic into music is a good thing..... hopefully all these teenyboppers who like the Jonas Brothers and the Hannah Montannas will expand their music taste as they grow older.

    it was a schecter hellraiser.

and at least its guitar based pop rock.

anything to fight the oncomming wave of loops and autotune.

Wow... that is something else, I never had any interest or much respect for the Jonas brothers, that action will make me take interest! That's a heck of a nice thing for him to do. And a Schecter Hellraiser is some serious guitarage! Well done and good for the kid and good for him!

Very nice thing he did. I'm sure they are nice people, as not everyone who is famous is a jerk :)

Not to head off topic, but... I'd bet the farm that autotune is used on the Jonas Brothers recordings, as it has become pretty industry standard on all commercial releases, even when the singers are pretty good. Just par for the course these days.

It has been for a long time.

I was listening to the master tracks for a song that was recorded around 10 years ago- I was surprised to hear the autotune all over the vocal tracks.

To tell the truth, I was also surprised to hear the comped guitar solo as well.

DISCLAIMER: I'm TOTALLY not a Jonas Bros fanboy, AT ALL!!!!!!

But... you can tell that Nick is the brains behind the operation. On SNL, he hopped back and forth between playing guitar, and playing drums, both very well.

He's putting out his own solo record, so he's probably looking to make a Justin-Timberlake-esque move down the road and go solo. Good for him.

That was really cool of him! I'm not much of a fan either, but hearing that gives me tons of respect for him!

Never listened to them or cared to but I can't help but think highly of NJ or the JB in light of this. Outstanding.

I happened to run across Regis & Kelly earlier in the week featuring the JB so I found it on YT to demonstrate that those Jonas boys must be VERY good natured to pimp that explorer on television.
