    Hi,

I must be stupid because I have this urge to try new styles all the time. What I really should be doing is to practice my guitar so I can join all you monster players ripping around on Red Ant's Herringbone Funk.
Some truly great guitar playing going on!!!!

Anyway, I am what I am and will probably keep fooling around for the rest of my days. To lazy to focus on practising.

This tune was written so I could try out a certain style of a guitar player who has recorded some fine stuff and some truly awful and wierd stuff. This is in the style I enjoy.

The guitar is a stock inexpensive Yamaha SA500 going through a very nice Carl Martin compressor into my Boss GS-10.

As I know this style is not everyone's favourite and it's quite long I have appropriately named it "When Will It End".

As this was a fun track to play over and the changes come at a leisurely pace I have uploaded this backing track for your enjoyment.

Hope you have fun with this little ditty!

    Cheers,

    Hej Anders,

    Thanks for the words.

The backing is OK from here. It's possible you were so quick to download that I hadn't had time to finish the upload
at that time. Please try again!

    Cheers,

    Hi Sub,

Thanks for listening! I've said it before and say it again. When players like you voice an opinion I take it to heart. Then it's really nice that you like it.

The guitar player in question is indeed Pat Metheny. I didn't think it would be noticable.

Thanks again for taking your time to comment!

    Cheers,

    Mats N

Aw that was some sweet recording there Mats!!
P Metheny also jumped to me when I heard it, had a friend who played jazz and stuff "like" that all the time...hehe
And this reminds me alot of some of Pats stuff.

    Hi Niels,

I had a hard time getting the sound to where I liked it and wasn't very close until I kicked in the Carl Martin compressor. Feels more and more like a keeper.

    Cheers,

I dunno, Mats, I thought your playing was quite tasty. Good to hear that you're still making music!

    Hi Harry and Mike,

    Thanks for the positive feedback.

The reason it feel awkward to post music like this is not that I don't like it. If I didn't I wouldn't bother to write and record it. The reason is that in Sweden (where I live) this kind of music is not considered "politically correct" or the musical equivalent. Some people think you lose your rock credibility if you do music like this. I personally find this view both limiting and somewhat stupid.

I know of a few really good players who would be caught playing this even if they like it as they are seriously afraid that it may turn their admirers against them.

I'm glad you like my efforts and thus I can sleep well at night with my TGP credibility intact. :D

    Cheers,

    Mats N

    Hi Billy,

Should I be flattered or offended by this statement?
I always wanted to break into the movie business big time but I did not consider this at all.

Well Mats, I think the rest of us would say you are an artist; versatile, talented, not stuck in a rut, an excellent musician!!!

I always listen to your postings. IMHO, you are one of the best!!!

    Hi Loren,

This truly made my day. I will print it out and read on those days when I need a boost.

    Thanks!
