The other day I asked about low powered ss amps as a platform for pedals .... f%#* it.... Tubes sound nicer . and its only money .. Im thinking about a fender princeton reverb or a deluxe reverb reissue . Any thought... P.S.- most of my pedals are tech 21 character pedals.

I like my Allen Classic 10 for that.

Forget the Classic 10 then. How about an Allen Chihuahua?

I think you're right about the Princeton Reverb. I got one recently and it's fantastic. I play a Tele mostly, but also have a cheap Dano '63 that I got for $150 and I can't believe the sweet clean sounds that come out of the Princeton Reverb with the Dano. Of course the Tele sounds great too. I got my PRRI used for $600 and recommend that vs. spending $900 for new.

Have you tried pedals with the princeton?

Try a Dr Z Maz18, or maybe even a Ghia, outstanding pedal platforms. I like 'em over a Deluxe Reverb in every way except missing out on the built-in trem.

    cheers

For what you're describing, I think a Deluxe would do the trick very nicely. Fender does the clean thing SO well and like pedals too.

The PRRI takes pedals just fine. But ironically I've been playing with fewer effects because I like the sound of the amp, and it's reverb/tremolo provide all the ambiance and modulation that I need. I'm only running OD and fuzz into it (OCD and a Tweakfuzz). Sold off my reverb and tremolo pedals, and took my Memory Boy and CS-3 off my board. It's a simple setup now and I'm loving it.
