    hey everyone,

I need a road case for my Hop Hat Club Royal 2x12 combo amp, and I thought I would ask if there was anyone with insight to my situation. Any thoughts when buying a road case/flight case?

    thanks.

Are you going on tour? If not, you might want to consider a nice padded Tuki soft case and a hand truck or castors. Does the same thing for much less. Also, the nice cases add a ton of weight and make lifting a pain in the ass.

i've gotten GREAT service/cases from XcaseWholesale.com...tim marsh will bulid you any size you need and they use the good foam and the cases look perfect! 4 encounters with them so far, and i am always impressed how professional they are :AOK

if you want to stay local, you won't save any $ (even without shipping they cost about the same) BUT...KEELEY bought trivett cases a while back -- i'm not sure if they're up and running with it completely though. it would be worth a phone call to them to see if they can hook you up...

If you are going to be the one moving it and only doing that locally, I recommend getting a Studio Slips double padded clamshell with the leather skids on the bottom. You can add pouches to the front and back to help your load in and out. Or get one of the SKB Amp Utility Vehicles, liek the SKB-AUV-710 or 720 depending on what size you need.

If you are touring or others are moving your amp, go with a high quality ATA road case, such as R&R CASE or A&S. Neither are cheap, but they will last many years.

A&S recently had at NAMM a new material that is stronger than the 1/2" thick plywood based laminate and weighs about 30% of it too, it's not cheap but it will make a difference when lugging it in and out.

I get mine from Rudy at Safecase. He's in Houston, and makes tour-worthy cases at good prices. He uses the best parts and does a great job. All custom-built, too - accessory compartments, locking wheels, locking latches, etc...

I got cases that are light duty from NY Case that were pretty good. Good for around town use and protection.

i've got studio slips covers for both my amps and use a furniture dolly if i know it's gotta be carried a long way from car to stage.

however, we're going on tour this spring and will probably break down and buy a road case. i'm kind of reluctant though because my amps are already pretty heavy and i know the case is gonna add even more....
