I don't care HOW many people bitch about this song and accuse them of "remaking 'Ice Cream Man'". I need to hear "Stay Frosty" live. Thank you, Eddie, for your consideration. Good night, all...

Stay Frosty is the only 'dud' on the album (or CD for the kiddies out there).

I think if Dave didn't do all the UH UhhHh UhhhHhhs it could have been listenable, but still not all that great. :dunno

I'm sorry, what was I thinking? Maybe if I quit skipping over it I'd like it.

Stay Frosty sounds like it belongs on Diver Down.

I like that tune also. It sounds more like classic VH then most of the others on the record. I find it strange they are choosing to play "Ice Cream man" over it which is more worn then my underwear. I understand it wouldn't make much sense to play both of them so logic tells me drop ICM.

I'll bet money that DLR wrote the acoustic intro...but probably didn't play it on record. It is a known fact when DLR picks up a guitar...it tends to sound country-bluesish...thats his way man. Just like Billy Gibbons has a fall back rhythm along with others. I love the song...it is very ZZish...and that is one of the wells VH spring from. I really enjoy when Eddie can play over the blues personally

"Stay Frosty" starts out a little redundant, but it finishes kickin' ass!

Upon first listen, Stay Frosty has been the highlight of the new CD for me. Best on the record IMO.

in my opinion Stay Frosty IS Van Halen. NO other band from that era could stretch the scale from acoustic blues to hot-rodded boogie like them. I really think VH started the whole genre of taking cover songs and hot-rodding them as well (a'la You Really Got Me). A lot of pretenders in this area who never could match the fire that VH would give to a cover song.

Yep...this tune, and the uh, uh, uhs, are what hooked my 9 year old son which allows me to play the whole album really loud in the car (don't worry, not that loud). He says it's his favorite song now. I dig it, too.

Judging by the lyrics, it seems like he is telling people to smoke that marijuwhosits stuff.

It is tough to better our cannibis.
"People on the West Coast stay Frostiest the most."

    I dig the frostiness!

    :agree

One of the best balls-out tunes on the album; Ed's tone is killer and Dave is absolutely classic - love it!

    Abso-bloody-lutely!

This is a snippet from an album review; from Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone even! Quite surprised by what he had to say

Toward the end, Roth reaches down between his legs, eases the seat back and shifts into "Stay Frosty." It's not just the show-stopper – it's a four-minute anthology of everything that rules about Van Halen. It begins as an acoustic country-blues goof, then switches into metal bombast, as Eddie's fingers and Roth's lips take turns showing off. "Stay Frosty" ends with the trick Van Halen did better than any band ever: the crashing power-chord-and-drumroll finale, which goes on for 30 insane seconds. It's ridiculous. It's obnoxious. It's awesome. This moment alone sums up why the album needed to happen. We've earned it. And so have they. :dude
