First off, it wasn't so hard to get out of it's box. Evidently the speakers are wired to a 1/4" jack that plugs into the bottom of the chassis. I removed both back panels and unplugged the speakers and RCA jacks connecting the reverb tank. Inside there are four screws that are attached by t-nuts holding a board with the chassis.

Examining the innards, I'd hate to be the guy that has to work on this thing when I finally do break it. But for PCB it looks kind of weird to me:D

Tubes! Preamp tubes were Tung Sol's and the powertubes were EH made in russia. I swapped them for some JJ's. The JJ's added a little more detail and sparkle to the amp after it was fired up.

Here are the pics I took while I had the chassis out of the combo box. My 6 yr. old daughter was sneaky and jumped in one or two as I snapped them:D:

Cool. Thanks for posting that. I've thought long and hard about buying one of these amps, but have put it off cause I heard re-tubing the things was a pain. They've got an AC 30 and 15 over at Kelley's Music that I may try out tomorrow. We'll see.

I bought my AC30CC2 from Ron at Kelly's about three weeks ago and love it. I took the thing to church and got all kinds of complements on the tone of it. It's an amp that plays loud and clean. It will show if your chops are weak like mine.

Man, you need to tell your daughter to stop hanging around her geeky dad and start playing out in the sprinklers!!! It's summer time, fer Pete's sake! :D

Hmmm. Never been a real fan of JJ EL84s maself. Now Tesla EL84s...that's different... But...as they say, different strokes

I didn't think it was possible, but they make a real AC30 look neat and well organized by contrast!

Yup, Teslas, not JJ/Teslas. They're not made anymore, unfortunately.

Do they hold up pretty well in your Velocette? I've been thinking of hunting down some from my Gibson GA15, which is the same thing as the Velocette. Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread.

They sound good. Don't have a ton of time on them though. That amp doesn't get a ton of use anymore, but I can't part with it.
