...holy smokes this thing is cool! I have only used it as a pre-OD boost so far (my intended purpose for this purchase). It's like 'special sauce' for the CJOD, the Eternity, and the OCD! I have the bias set to about 10 o'clock - just enough of whatever it does. It's hard for me to describe this early on but I like it. I like it a whole lot!

I was pretty well ready to sell the OCD but I'm digging it with a little push from the COT. I have a DNA Analogic Gain Fxxker II on the way (the next contestant in my search for a high gain pedal - hopefully the last). For now the OCD is sitting in it's slot on my board. If I don't dig the Gain Fxxker then the OCD will get to stay a while longer. Either way I'm pretty sure I'll be hanging on to the COT!

I set my CoT50 at around 9 o'clock and can't believe what this
little guy does for my sound/tone. I'm still experimenting on the
settings with my OCD and mosy likely will use it as a pseudo JTM45
amp tone for rhythm sounds. Have you tried the Emma HeezaFratzitz
for high gain. I prefered it over the Menatone KOB (although I love my
Dirty Blonde and TBIAC) as it seems to be a bit warmer and more "organic"
if that makes any sense. Good luck in your tonequest.

How much louder than unity is the COT 50? I'm having trouble understanding how it works?

At what point on the knob does a volume increase happen? Or, is there a volume boost when it's turned on?

    Any info would be appreciated.

It depends on amplifier and its avail headroom..
Hard to say how it react at a certain point on the knob..

The knob controls EQ/saturation/volume all at once..

I played at a jam last night and the COT 50 stayed on most of the night! What a fantastic sound and feel! I don't think I'm any closer to describing it but I sure do like it. This one is definitely staying on my pedalboard for the foreseeable future. It plays so well with my entire rig. What an awesome pedal!

My COT 50 has been the only constant pedal on my many board incarnations throughout the years. I cannot forsee ever getting rid of it. This unit is one of the first 3, I believe that Sean ever offered. IMO, one of the best pedals ever made, and THE best of it's type period.

I have recently been pairing up this duo for stellar results. Keep the Janglebox low in order to maintain a COT tone at unity settings and even less overdrive with low headroom amps. Exact same tone that the COT gives you, with the benifit of a beautiful, pristine, clean tone. M.E.

    Sorry for the large pics!

I'm getting excellent results with the AnalogMan Juicer (Orange Squeezer) into the COT 50!

Well, yes...and no, well, I mean, a boost is most definately in there. I don't know how Sean figgers this stuff out! It is a "tone-maker-betterer" thingy. But alot more than that! Way more, yet subtle in a not so subtle way, I guess....Did that help? M.E.

In a way, yes. It's more than a simple booster to my ears though. It also adds a little dirt and some mojo I can't adequately describe.

What I like about the COT is that it works well with many amps. Fenders, Aikens, Fuchs, Brunos, old Marshalls, even a Dr. Z I had. Hell, it even works well with a Rocca Custom 40 (yeah, like it needs a boost! :D). GREAT Pedal!
