We had a great time. They're the coolest guys and we basically cracked up the whole session. The guitar was sounding pretty good... nothing new to you cats I'm sure, but fun anyway.

The links don't work in your OP.

Excellent videos! You really dialed up a nice 335 tone there.

I really like the knob configuration on the new standard. The volume knob looks farther from the strings than a typical strat. I think I feel some GAS brewing.

To insert YouTube videos, you just put the ID code for the clip in between the bracketed YouTube identifiers - so for your first video, when you hit the YouTibe insert button, you just put in "AoYmVUnInlk" instead of the entire URL.

    Cool videos!

I take 5 guitars to a gig so I can cover all the different tunings we use, and that doesn't cover drop D and drop C. I could do all of that on one guitar with nothing more than a patch change on the firehawk... so yeah I would love to have one.

The acoustic tones sound fantastic :aok How was this recorded ? I can't seem to find the info.

Does the acoustic tones actually sound like that ? Coz, I've been thinking of getting a pretty expensive acoustic guitar for Live as well as studio use. This looks like an interesting option for me to research now.

I've been practicing for an upcoming musical and I hope that it will be the LAST that I do with an acoustic and an electric. :)

The Standard (which I'm playing in the video) isn't overtly 'Strat' or 'tele'-ish in terms of playing feel, but it was very comfortable and easy. Seemed like a Yamaha Pacifica, unsurprisingly...

My own Tyler Variax is a different beast. The neck is big - bigger than I like - but it plays great and is easy to get used to. I should do a more comprehensive demo of it sometime; I've been able to coax some great tones out of it.

The recording was not super complex. Electric was through a Line 6 DT-50 on the Marshall (Park?) setting with light gain, micing a 4x12 with an SM57. Acoustic tones are the way you hear them in the video, straight to Line 6 StageSource PA speakers.

The thing with the acoustic sounds is that you have to play lighter than you might normally play to get those sounds. I don't play heavy on it at all. Don't forget these are electric gauge strings - .10s I believe.

The real authority on this is Sean Halley. Check out his blog post, with videos:

What I would like is something like the JTV 59 with a whammy bar and the ability to model all the different guitars. Strat's tele's, les paul, ES335, Dobro, acoustics

I could live with the strat body and that ugly headstock but I would rather not

They're really good for Pit Band work, where space is tight and you have 6 bars to change guitars.
