I took the plunge yesterday morning (2/2/08) & ordered a Suhr guitar that has a combination of features unavailable any other way but to do it as a special order.

    Here's the specs:
    Custom T
Maple neck - 50's round, Tusq Nut, Stainless Steel Frets, 1.687 width, Tung Oil finish
Vintage White alder Tele, 3 saddle ashtray bridge,
Tele bridge pickup, Strat v-60 middle & neck, master volume & tone, 5-way switch
chrome hardware, sperzel locking machine heads

Interested to know what you all think about this one.
I traded off a couple, will have to do one more or find some cash but this will be the one to end the search for me.

Oh yeah, props to Chris at The Guitar Boutique/Moho Mods in Indianapolis for helping me with all this. Check out his shop if you are in Indy!

Like Mr. Tom Petty sings: "The Waiting Is The Hardest Part!"

Sounds cool to me, especially the oiled neck. I've always wanted a T with that pickup configuration, it's so versatile.

John Suhr's Classic T is a sweet guitar. I have one with a mahogany neck and body w/maple top and two S90s. I also went with the 1.687 nut width and SS frets. You're going to love it, congrats!

Are you getting the tele with a pickguard?
I believe Suhr has 2 different pickguards available on their teles, you might want to consider both of them.

Other options you might want to consider adding, body contours, and rolled fingerboard edges! :D

    Especially rolled fingerboard edges.

That will be a killer guitar.

I have an (lightweight) alder-bodied Suhr with a V60 in the middle position, and I sold my Strat after the Suhr came in, because I liked the faux-Strat pup positions 2 & 4 better on the Suhr...

You're gonna love it - no doubt! However, I'm a biased Suhr fan. But NO guitar can ever make your statement below true.

Congrats on the new Suhr T!......I don't know if anybody warned you but one Suhr leads to another. I love the stainless frets on the Classic T I custom ordered.

I don't mean to spoil the fun, but John pronounces Suhr like 'sir'. ;)

Sir, surely you don't have to get surly about the pronunciation of Suhr....

Great guitars. I have a fairly plain jane red Suhr Classic S that is one of the liveliest and best sounding guitars acoustically I have ever played.

I know how to pronounce it, I just thought it was funny.
The reason for the locking tuners is I like them, makes changing strings a 5 minute thing.

    Thanks again everybody.

Update - I ended up trading my last Fender I had yesterday evening, so the transaction is complete. All that's left is waiting for the truck.

I'll update again when it rolls in!

As I promised, I'm happy to report that I just got it home & am very happy with my purchase.
I'll check in with a detailed review at a later time.
I gotta go play that thang!

Is it this one: http://gallery.mac.com/suhrguitars#100507/8371-043008_01&bgcolor=black ?

If so, that is sooooo sweet. It's become a thorn in my eye as I was about to order a T with drip or a "loud" colour", but that combo is amazing (I've tried several other colours in PS, but they don't come out as nice).

    Congrats! :RoCkIn

Congrats!!!! I became a Suhr owner last month, and after buying the guitar, I finally understood why everyone who liked 'em, likde 'em. They really are wonderfully built guitars, and each time I play it, I get the same feeling I did as a kid when I first started playing.....
